Tom Gsteiger

... The fact that Schärli has stuck to his Special Sextet featuring Glenn Ferris and Tom Varner for many years is sometimes branded as an indication of a lack of willingness to innovate. This group's concert at the Winter Festival impressively demonstrated that this was a blatant misjudgment. Schärli is not a stubborn person who sticks to the tried and tested - rather, his work is determined by the principle of continuous evolution.

Der Bund, January 21, 2008, Tom Gsteiger
